Early Sunday morning, we got up and caught the train into NYC. It took about 3 hours so we slept most of the way... I love trains :)
As soon as we got there, before we checked into our Hotel The Lucern (highly recommend) we went to the Natural History Museum. It was really neat, I wish we had more time to spend there, but we had to change our clothes to go to the show! We went to see A Steady Rain with Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig- THEY WERE SOO GOOD!! It ws just them, and they talked for 1.5 straight! Language was a little strong, but they were soo cute, you didn't mind :) Afterwards, we saw Time Square, Rockefeller Plaza, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall and did some shopping. We coped out and ate at TGIF's before we went to the Top of the Rock at sunset :) Soo pretty, and as freaked out as I am with heights, this wasn't bad.
To top off a lovely evening, we hit up Magnolia Bakery for some CUPCAKES;)YUMMM.
Monday morning we were at the State Ferry by 8am for our ride over to Liberty and Ellis Island. Man the water was choppy- but wasn't too bad once we got out in the open. James was had a ticket to climb, yes climb up the pedestal. Leiana and I walked around the base while she listened to the audio tour. Did you know that the shell is only the thickness of a penny? And that when it was constructed, it was the color that the flame is now- but just ionized by the weather??
We didn't have long at Ellis Island at all, but some of the stories the Park Rangers were telling were pretty neat. Like how if you were 'too happy' they would classify you as crazy and not let you into the country. One man who was soo happy that he walked around on his hands, somehow made it though- you might know him as Charlie Chaplin :)
By this time, it is 11, and Leaiana has to catch her train at 12:30, so we grabbed a quick lunch at Shake Shack- OMG!!!!! IF you are in NYC, you HAVE to eat here. Great burgers and hot dog- out of this world milkshakes:)
Once we got her on the train, James and I walked up to Central Park.
We finished packing, and caught a cab to the air port. I was very disappointed when it wasn't the Cash Cab :(
